The touch-up or original-like 30hp engine is also progressing for the 'Vert. That'll be the 4th engine in 9 years in the car. It had 1600cc with all imaginable taiwan-Empi-ping-pong-chrome-crap when I bought it, swapped that to 34hp 1200cc for one summer and from 2001 forward it had 2161cc stroker. I'll try the slow&low approach this time.
Lesson learned; make sure that the ventilation window frame is aligned properly before installing the door window glass :) The passenger side needs more tweaking while the driver's side turned out just fine with first try.
I typically don't nick other peoples photos to my site but couldn't resist this time. This is the '67 Cal Looker built by Kevan "Lemonade" Lemmons in late 70's. IMHO, it doesn't get much better than this car. The stance is really spot on.
The photos I've so far seen in Cal Look Lounge-forum from DKK club are really cool and made stronger impression than any other 70's/80's clubs.
Halfway there; ventilation window frames and rear drop windows in place. Just like the window frames had shrunk in re-chroming process :) Cannot remember when I have had to use so much force with Volkswagens as I had when fitting door windows to their frames.
Kotten is re-building and restoring his Hitler's Revenge racecar. 2008 will be the 30th anniversary for the car, 1978 drag races held in Räyskälä air-field were the first racing event for the car. Kotten faced the same problem as the others restoring old racecars; "to exactly which configuration will the car be restored". The current rebuilt will feture the old body with fully restored pan and modern roll-cage.
Picked up new glass to my 'Vert from Kuttilan Autolasi. All the photos and notes I took when I teared the car apart in October 2003 were one job and cannot remember how many laptop replacements ago. Looking forward the quality-time spent in the garage :)
